Foxborough – James Arthur Darlington, age 64, passed away at his home surrounded by the comfort of his loving family on November 23, 2017. He was the son of the late Arthur and Winifred (Miller) Darlington.
Loving father of James and his wife Madeleine Darlington of FL, and Jill and her husband, Whitney Mitchell, Jr. of Foxborough. Grandfather of Shane, Brogan and Amelia Rose. Beloved brother of Jack Darlington and his wife, Deborah, of E. Bridgewater, MA, Paul Darlington and his wife, Deborah, of Orlando, FL, Arlene Darlington of Upper Black Eddy. PA, Sally Darlington of Eagle, CO, and Mary Darlington and her husband, Dr. Mark Winey, of Woodland, CA.
A life-long resident of Foxborough, Jim was born on February 3, 1953. He was a 1971 graduate of Foxborough High School, and later earned a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University. Jim was most recently employed as a business partner/owner with Dave Lind Racing. He also plowed snow for the town of Foxborough for the past 6 years. He was a former tool designer/engineer for FM Global, and worked as an engineer for the former Foxboro Company.
Jim was a very active citizen in the Town of Foxborough. He attended many Town Hall meetings and was truly a giving person who helped many, especially the elderly. He was an enthusiastic volunteer for Foxboro Cable Access and was often seen filming High School sports and Band activities, as well as the Founders Day Parade. He was also a Foxborough history buff. Jim was involved in the Boys Scouts and a member of Saint Mark's Episcopal Church.
Jim had a passion for auto racing. He was a member of Pro Four Modifieds of New England, a race car owner and stock car driver at many New England-based tracks for decades. Through his years of auto racing he acquired expertise that he openly shared with others. Jim was a warm hearted person whose kindness, friendship and generosity touched many lives and will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday, December 1 from 5 to 8 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough. Calling hours will continue at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 PM at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 116 South Street, Foxborough.
