William "Jerry" Norwood

November 25, 1935 - October 22, 2017

Longtime Foxborough Resident and Teacher

William J. “Jerry” Norwood, 81, a longtime Foxborough resident, passed peacefully on October 22, 2017 at Brookdale Senior Living, Smithfield, RI.  He was the beloved husband of Judith M. (Carr) Norwood, to whom he was married on October 4, 1958.

Born in South Weymouth on November 25, 1935, he was the son of the late William G. and Esther G. (Bisson) Norwood. Jerry was a graduate of Weymouth High School, Class of 1953, and a graduate of the University of Bridgeport.  He worked in the Foxboro Public schools for many years as a teacher and special needs driver until retirement in 2008.  In earlier days he was involved in many Foxborough organizations such as the Youth Soccer Association, Jaycees, the Bicentennial Commission, where he served as Chair, and more recently the Council On Aging.  Jerry also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and spending summers on Cape Cod with his family and was an avid stamp collector. 

In addition to his wife Judy, Jerry is survived by four children, William J. Norwood III of Oakland, CA, Linda J. Norwood of Walnut Creek, CA, Gail L. Norwood of Foxborough, MA, and Amy C. Fortier of Bellingham, MA, a sister, Nancy Hall of Orange, MA, a grandson, Andrew C. Johnson of Dedham, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday, October 27th from 4-7 PM in the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough.  Burial will be private.
