Bellingham- Esther Alcott, 89, died Friday, April 28th surrounded by loving family. Esther, was a long time resident of Foxboro, MA. She was born in Somerville, MA the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Grazia (Bellino) Mangano.
Esther grew up in Medford and attended Medford Public Schools. During her young life she enjoyed trips to the beach, special events at Tremont Temple Baptist Church, spending time with her sisters, and church friends and family. She held clerical positions for Rustcraft Greeting Cards, Ben Franklin Savings Bank, Jostens, Rodman Ford Truck Center, L&M Sheet Metal, and Damon Clinical Laboratories. It was at Rustcraft Greeting Cards that she met her husband of nearly 59 years Caleb Alcott.
Esther was a woman of faith who was a member of The Boston Christian Assembly for her early life and later attended The Walpole Assembly of God, Trinity Community Church of Norwood, The Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Foxboro, and was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Foxboro. Esther was a kind and loving friend and especially enjoyed being surrounded by young people. Although very shy, she had a very special gift in how she saw and valued people and encouraged them to reach their best selves. She impacted many lives one at a time. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, teaching Sunday school, and serving on the hospitality committee. Esther loved entertaining guests in her home, enjoyed fashion and shoe shopping. She was known by her closest friends and family for her keen sense of humor and her great love of dessert.
She is survived by her husband Caleb G. Alcott, her daughters and son’s in law; Lisa and Mark Burgess of Norton, MA and Dawn Alcott-Miller and Stephen Miller of Bellingham, MA. She is the sister of the late Frank and Philip Mangano, Connie Lorusso, Margaret Mazzola, Alice Cavallo and Stella Mangano. She also leaves four loving grandchildren: Benjamin Boulanger of Walpole, MA, James Boulanger of Norton, Dakota Burgess of Norton and Hope Miller of Bellingham.
Visiting hours will be 12pm-2pm on Friday, May 5 at Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street in Foxboro. The visitation will conclude with a funeral service at 2pm.
