Joan V. Donovan

October 16, 1945 - October 09, 2017

Beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother

MARSHFIELD - Joan V. (Guaragna) Donovan, (formerly of Foxboro), age 71, died peacefully at home surrounded by the comfort of her loving family on Monday, October 9, 2017.

Joan was the loving wife for 52 years of Richard F. Donovan Sr. and the daughter of the late Anthony and Vanita (Dial) Guaragna of Dorchester.

Joan thoroughly enjoyed entertaining her family and friends.  She also enjoyed cooking and vacationing, especially in Aruba, where she made many life long friends.

In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by her daughters Kelly and the late Jonathan Blaisdell of North Attleboro, Kristin and her husband Brad Cady of Foxboro, and her son Richard Donovan Jr.  of Foxboro. Joan is also survived by her eight loving grandchildren; Meghan, Ryan and Allyson Blaisdell of North Attleboro; Caroline and Connor Cady of Foxboro; Tyler, Kayla and Kaitlyn Donovan of Foxboro.

Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and always wanting a large family, Joan devoted over two decades to the needs and happiness of her grandchildren.

Joan is also survived by her mother-in-law Frances L. Donovan of Canton and the late James J. Donovan Sr. and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law who were like siblings to her. She also leaves behind countless close friends who were her extended family.

Joan’s family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Ursula Matulonis and her team at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, South Shore Hospital’s Emerson 6, and Hope Hospice for all their care and compassion for Joan throughout her prolonged illness.




Funeral Information

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 5-8pm at Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Monday October 16th  at 10am.  A Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 16th at 11am at St. Mary’s Church, 53 Carpenter Street, Foxboro followed by a burial at Rockhill Cemetery.
