Mary T. Souza

September 14, 1915 - May 03, 2017

Beloved Mother and Grandmother

Mary T. Souza, age 101, of Foxboro, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham. Beloved wife of the late Joseph N. Souza and daughter of the late Frank and Julianna Teixeira.

Mary was actively involved in numerous church and civic organizations including St. Mary’s Guild, Prayerline and Choir, the Foxboro Housing Authority (25 years), HESSCO Advisory Council, Foxboro Women’s Club, American Legion and the Women’s Marine Auxillaries, the Silver Haired Legislature, the Foxboro Serenading Seniors and the Girl Scouts in Massachusetts, Delaware and California (30 years). In 1997, Mary received the DOVE award from Governor William Weld for devoted, outstanding volunteer work to the elderly.

Mary was the last of nine siblings: Angelina, Frank, Joseph, Cecilia, Rose, Hilda, Alda and Lucille. She is survived by her three daughters, Janet Pineault (Gerald) of Foxboro, Carolyn Wayne (David Garrott) of Wilmington, DE and Patricia Ekelund (Ronald) of Shingle Springs, California. She was also blessed with six grandchildren: Melissa Pineault Read, Michael (Heather) and Matthew Pineault, Kristina Wayne Corridori (Mark), Brian Wayne (Kim) and Alex Ekelund and 10 great-grandchildren: Blair Read, Caitlyn, Allee and Emily Pineault, Erin and Jamie Corridori and Erica, Lauren, Dominic and Julianna Wayne.


Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, May 10 from 4-7 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro.
